As part of the birthday celebrations, the club have teamed up with the charity to offer a special ticket promotion for staff and supporters to help raise funds for the Appeal and also come and watch the opening game of the new Championship season on Sunday 4th September at Headingley Carnegie when Leeds host London Welsh. A discounted ticket priced at only £10 for adults and £8 for juniors will be available for supporters and staff of the charity with over 50% of all sales going back to the Leeds Children's Hospital Appeal.
As part of the visit, there was a welcome reception and talk from Leeds Children's Hospital Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, Jonathan Sutcliffe, himself a big fan of Leeds Carnegie, before the players went on a walk around the wards to meet staff and patients.
Commenting on the launch of the celebrations, Leeds Carnegie Head of Marketing Abigail Furniss said: "We are delighted to support the great work being done by the Leeds Children's Hospital Appeal. The squad came down this time last year to visit the children and they received a very warm welcome. We kick off our season with the visit of London Welsh on the 4th September and we are really pleased to be working in partnership with the charity to try and raise some funds for them and the great work they do."
Jacquie Cross, development manager for Leeds Children's Hospital Appeal said: "We are delighted to kick off a month of exciting events celebrating our 1st birthday with the Leeds Carnegie game on 4th September. The special ticket price is a great way for our supporters who maybe haven't watched a rugby union game to have a great day out and raise much needed funds for our Appeal too. The entire team visiting the wards shows the commitment from all players to making a child's stay with us better, brighter and happier."
