Dominic Moon was recommended to Leeds Carnegie by Dave Baldwin
Leeds Carnegie have bolstered their squad ahead of Sunday's RFU Championship clash with Plymouth Albion at West Park Leeds, kick off 2.30pm, with the loan signing of 29-year-old back rower Dominic Moon from Preston Grasshoppers.
Moon will immediately come into the Leeds squad for this Sunday's game with Leeds without Chris Walker, who is serving the final match of his suspension, and Dominic Barrow, who is playing for England U20 against Scotland.
Commenting on the signing Head Coach Diccon Edwards said, "Dave Baldwin knows Dominic well from his time at Preston and he believes he can do a job for us in the short term. We have got injuries in the back row and with Chris and Dominic also both unavailable there has been a need to strengthen the squad. Initially it is just for this weekend but we will be monitoring the situation and could be on a longer term going forward."
Moon revealed that Leeds forwards coach Dave Baldwin had convinced him to move across to Yorkshire, he added, "I know Dave really well and he spoke to me in the summer about coming across to Leeds and testing myself in that environment. The timing was not right for me then because I had just been made Preston captain and wanted to give that my best shot. Things have worked out this time for Leeds and Preston and I have really enjoyed this week. The set up is great here at Leeds and hopefully I can give it my best shot. I think I was one of those players who missed out on the chance of playing at a higher level when I was younger but who knows what might happen if I can show Diccon and the rest of the coaches what I can do."
