All Academy and ERDPP sessions have an open-door policy for coaches to attend and observe the practice that is going on across the county. All formal coach development CPD sessions will be advertised on the Yorkshire Carnegie and County websites.

There are a number of coaching roles on the ERDPP from Age Grade Lead Coaches, through to observational coaches as well as support staff members with areas of expertise in strength & conditioning/sport science and team management roles.

Through the off season the recruitment for the ERDPP centres opens and coaches are asked to apply for the regional, age grade specific roles but observational coaching opportunities and development coach opportunities are available all year round.

County coaching roles will be advertised as and when they become available and candidates will be interviewed. Coaches within the ERDPP who have aspirations to progress can do so within the County Teams; being at first nominated as Shadow Coaches to a County side, with the view to progression to a county coach when suitable vacancies become available.

Coach Development is a key part of the Academy structure and working with coaches across all sections of the game, from Community Age Grade to Professional rugby. Various events take place throughout the season and across the County to support coaches within and around the player pathway. The two figures below highlight the joined-up approach taken by England Rugby, Carnegie and Yorkshire RFU towards coach development.
