Young stars take part in 'Under Pressure' challenge
Academy players from Yorkshire Carnegie and Wasps were in the spotlight during the interval of Wasps’ Heineken Champions Cup clash with Leinster Rugby last week as part of a unique challenge.
The players, aged between 17 and 21, went head-to-head in a range of ‘Under Pressure’ challenges designed to test their nerve in front of the masses at Ricoh Arena.
The challenge included a goal-kicking time trial, in which players attempted to be the fastest to score from six spots on the 22-metre line, with a five second penalty for each missed attempt. Players also competed in a tug of war and a timed Land Rover push and Wasps players won this test, but Yorkshire Carnegie came out on top in the other challenges. Lewis Wilson, Adam Brown, Ben Carlile and Steele Barker won the line out race. Joe Carpenter won the high ball catch and return and Dan Lancaster was the goal kick champion.
