Scrum half JB Bruzulier returned to England from French club Nevers at the start of the 2018-19 season having previously played for Worcester in the Greene King IPA Championship.
Welshman Jean-Baptiste Bruzulier helped Worcester Warriors to promotion back in 2015. He captained the Warriors in their British & Irish Cup triumph that season and played in both legs of the Championship play-off final win over Bristol.
Bruzulier, who played his junior rugby with Llandaff North, Llandaff and St Josephs before having spells with Cardiff Blues and the Dragons at U16s and U18s, has respected Wales at age-group and sevens level. After moving to Filton College in Bristol, he had a year with Saracens on an Academy contract in 2011, turning out for Old Albanians and Wales 7s, before moving to France, where he signed up with second division club Le Pays d’Aix. Whilst at Le Pays d'Aix he spent time at Toulon on trial where he was mentored by Jonny Wilkinson. He returned to England in 2014 from French side Le Parc to join Worcester on a two year contract where, as well as helping them back to the Aviva Premiership, he also spent time on loan at Clermont Auvergne. He made a permanent move back to France with Nevers in 2016.
For Bruzulier, who is squeezing in his wedding and honeymoon into the off season, the chance to challenge himself in English rugby for a third time is something he is relishing at this stage of his career.
He added, “Joining Yorkshire Carnegie was an opportunity I could not turn down. I am looking forward to getting back to English rugby and the aim is to try and help the side gain promotion again. The set up and facilities at Yorkshire Carnegie are great and the coaching staff are top class. The arrival of Chris Stirling from the Hurricanes shows the direction the club is heading in.
“I have seen how the team plays and hopefully I can add to that next season. The club is based in a big city and this is a great opportunity for me at an exciting time in my life. Going to France was a massive experience for me and I think I am a better player for it, I am keen to come back now and show what I can do,” added the scrum half.
